IJ Community Media

Social Enterprise

As well as a commercial element, IJM also has a community arm providing services to not-for-profit organisations.

After receiving a Big Lottery Fund Awards for All programme for our education projects we have been able to run a series of projects during the past twelve months targeting schools across Birmingham and the Black Country.

Our 'Newshound' clubs have proved very popular with Primary school children. Run after school, the clubs allow participants to write and edit news articles before making their very own school's news programme. The clubs have been running at schools across Great Barr, West Bromwich and Walsall and we are currently working with Primary schools in Tipton. If you are interested in booking Newshound clubs for your school please contact us on info@ijmmedia.co.uk

The grant also allowed us to develop our other programmes such as High School Radio, the Llewela Bailey TV Challenge and the Ashia Hansen Sports Challenge, and offer these at a subsidised rate to a range of schools. For information on these Challenges, please visit our IJM Media Education page by following the links above.
