Enterprise Challenges

The Matt Neal Motor Sport Challenge

Three times British Touring Car Champion, Matt Neal has fully endorsed this STEM based challenge which has been designed to encourage students of all abilities and of both genders to consider careers in STEM areas. The challenge is set in the faced paced world of motor sport with a focus on maths and engineering and introduces students into the importance of the supply chain. Some activities involve budgeting and business planning and this challenge will motivate and inspire your students.

During the day, students will take on the role of a motor sport team and develop valuable skills to prepare them for the world of work. They will also gain an understanding of the importance of the supply chain within industry.

The Llewela Bailey TV News Challenge

Broadcaster and former ITV Newsreader, Llewela Bailey has spent her career in front of TV cameras and she now gives students the opportunity to have a special insight into the world of TV news and works with them to form a news production company. The teams then write and perform their own news programme based on real and relevant school areas such as transition, awards, achievement, exams, school clubs, healthy living, sports and the wider community. All news programmes are recorded and given to the school as an outcome of the day.

The Ashia Hansen Sports Challenge

Ashia will begin the day with her own story of success which is guaranteed to inspire and captivate her audience. As an Olympic and Commonwealth athlete who was awarded an MBE for her outstanding contribution to sport, Ashia is able to give a special insight into the international sporting arena. She will then challenge the students to work in teams and design their very own sports race, then pitch it to the judging committee of a large world class event (fictitious) to see if it can be included in the event as a 'new sport'. During the afternoon session, the teams will take on the role of event managers for this event, design the event and it’s marketing strategy. In the lead up to the 2012 Games, this is an ideal challenge for students of all abilities and ages.
